BW LNGCs to use GTT tanks for optimised boil-off rate

GTT says that the new ships will be equipped with its innovative NO 96 GW membrane technology, which allows an optimised daily boil-off rate of cargo LNG, and helps to save fuel cost during journeys. In the NO 96 GW system the standard Perlite insulation material is replaced with Glass Wool to reach a boil-off rate of 0.125 to 0.13 %V/day.

The new ships will be operated by Norwegian company BW group, and are scheduled for delivery from DSME in 2017 and 2018.

The company says that this order adds to its already strong third quarter 2014 order book. CEO Philippe Berterottière, said: “We are very happy to receive this new order. It shows our long partnership with DSME, which is particularly involved in the promotion of NO 96 membrane systems; as well as BW, who already operates many ships equipped with GTT technologies.”
