Remontowa cuts steel on BC dual-fuel ferry

The 107m long ferries, ordered for US$165 million in July 2014, will be the company’s first dual-fuel vessels. The first intermediate class ferry will be delivered in August next year, with the remaining two delivered in October 2016 and February 2017.

The vessels have been designed for a 40-year lifespan, and are each capable of carrying up to 145 vehicles and 600 passengers and crew. They are contracted for a speed of 15.5 knots and will be able to accelerate to 12 knots in 125 seconds.
