Echochlor reports that its system is on track for USCG type approval in 2016 - a key factor in the Liberty decision

Three 50,000 dwt bulk carriers will be fitted with ES-1400-2.0 system, with capacity for a flow rate of 1,400m3/h and a tank size of 5m3. Four 82,000 dwt bulkers will house ES-2400-1.5 systems, with a capacity of 2,400m3/h and a 1.5m3 tank. The two PCTCS will be fitted with ES–1000S-0.25 systems.

Tom Perlich, Ecochlor president and founder commented: “We look forward to a long collaboration with Liberty and to satisfying their fleet’s ballast water treatment needs. We are pleased that Liberty has decided to install our BWTS and that they understood the importance of securing a System that is positioned to receive USCG Type Approval in 2016.”

Ecochlor systems use chlorine dioxide (ClO2) to eliminate the transfer of aquatic invasive species, with purification following filtration. IMO type approval was granted by Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) in 2011, followed by USCG AMS approval in 2013.
