Hoyer motors for Herboner wastewater pumps

Hoyer has produced ten different types of electric motors for Herborner’s wastewater pumps. The inner workings of all the motor types is standard, while the outer parts are specially developed. Drive end bearings are specially designed for longer service life, while the shaft is made of a stainless steel specified by Herboner, with a higher titanium content and less carbon.

Over the course of several years, the partnership fan a test order, a zero series with ten units of each motor type and finally the main series production order.

Sascha Korupp, technical director, Herborner, explained: “Several complications arose along the way due to the market situation. For example, the motor’s energy class changed during the process, from IE3 to IE1, and then back again. It certainly wasn’t an easy situation. The process was long, but the end result was great.”

The companies also noted that pre-existing class type approvals for Hoyer motors, from societies including DNV GL and China Classification Society, had simplified the process.
