Ionada completes installation of Membrane Scrubber exhaust gas cleaning system

The installation was completed at COSCO Nantong Shipyards in Nantong China.

“We would like to thank both COSCO and MG Management for their support and expertise in helping make the Membrane Scrubber installation such a resounding success,” said Edoardo Panziera, Ionad’s chief executive.

He continued: “This installation represents the world’s first SOx removal for ECA compliance using the ceramic membrane technology. The conversion has been highly-rated by the present government officials and experts.”

Ionada’s Membrane Scrubber aims to allow shipowners to achieve the benefits of fuel cost savings while meeting ECA requirements. It also hopes to provide assurance of no environmental challenges to overboard discharge as well as simplified retrofit installation.

To promote the application of the ceramic membrane technology, Cosco Shipyard has reached a cooperation agreement with Jiangsu Ionada Environmental Protection Technology which means Cosco Shipyard has the priority right to use the vessel exhaust gas desulfurization device by means of ceramic membrane technology.

This has made a solid foundation in the ship exhaust gas process conversion market for Cosco Shipyard.
