Vard Electro will provide electrical installation work for Cammell Laird on the ‘RSS David Attenborough’

As reported, the 130m long Sir David Attenborough will be built by Cammell Laird to a Rolls-Royce design, powered by Rolls-Royce’s Bergen B33:45 engines. Under an NOK100 million (US$11.8 million) contract, Vard Electro will install its SeaQ communications system – including remote management – and a package of complex electrical work.

The contract, signed with Cammell Laird, includes engineering resources to support the shipyard in the drawing approval process; complete electrical installation onboard; and systems and products developed by Vard Electro.

Stig Bjørkedal, executive vice president equipment & solutions, Vard, said: “Vard Electro was chosen in competition with global players within the field of electro integration. This contract shows that our strategy for external sales is yielding positive results, and proves our competitiveness and competence in electro integration.”

Vard Electro has installed its equipment on over 300 vessels, including complete systems for power management, propulsion, automation and navigation.
