Yara scrubbers for Saga Cruises newbuild

Each of the vessel’s for MAN Diesel & Turbo engines (with a combined power of 21.6MW) will be connected to a Yara scrubber allowing for either open- or closed-loop exhaust gas cleaning. Scrubbers will enable the vessel to comply with the current 0.1% sulphur limit in Emission Control Areas and the 0.5% global cap to enter into force in 2020.

“The decision to install scrubber systems on the vessel demonstrates Saga’s commitment to environmental regulations and reaffirms Yara’s strong position in the exhaust gas cleaning market,” said Peter Strandberg, CEO, Yara Marine Technologies.

The vessel is expected to be delivered in 2019. Saga has an option with Yara for scrubbers for a second vessel.
