Non-chemical treatment tackles ferry water deposits

The technology, supplied by Pronomar B.V, produces overlapping frequencies, which aims to disturb any deposits in the water lines around the ferries.

The solution aims to provide an alternative to chemical treatments and Pronomar claims the deposits, e.g. limescale, will stay in solution longer and will flush away along with the water instead of building up.

MERUS’ technology is designed to ensure that less maintenances is needed than with chemical treatments and that piping onboard experiences a longer lifespan.

Texelstroom ferries use less fuel than previous Teso ferries and can transport more cars.

The heat from Texelstroom generators is reused for the central heating onboard and the ferry also features 700m² of solar panels, which represent 80% of the total energy the model uses.

Texelstroom ferries have been sailing between Den Helder and Texel since the end of last year.
