A&P and Goltens fit ‘Northern River’ BWMS

The installation marks the second cooperation between A&P and Goltens, after the companies cooperated to install a BWMS on the 7,891gt LPG carrier Knightsbridge, owned and managed by Komaya Shipping. The companies have now been contracted to install BWMS on three more Serco vessels.

Goltens completed 3D laser scanning (during a short port visit), design and manufacture of all piping for the project, procurement of cabling and materials, and transport of all equipment to the ship yard. A&P’s Falmouth facility fitted the system during the refit period. The cooperation, in particular the pre-engineering of piping, saved an estimated two weeks of shipyard time.

Tim Sutton, technical superintendent, added: “Due to the laser scanning and efficient refit planning the installation work was performed in the background to the rest of the refit, allowing me and my Serco team to concentrate on the other major refit issues.”

A&P Falmouth has also managed and installed three 600-tonne capacity ballast water management systems on three complex military vessels managed by A&P, and is preparing for a fourth installation. Each design and fit has been completed on time and within budget.
