SHP side channel pump

Model SHP is a new generation of SERO side channel pumps. The SHP pumps are used on LPG tankers with dual fuel engines. Burckhardt Compression has already established a corresponding service infrastructure for its gas compressors in the marine sector with a worldwide network of more than 300 field service staff and representatives in more than 80 countries.

Marcel Pawlicek, CEO of Burckhardt Compression, said: “The service cooperation with SERO PumpSystems allows us to further expand our service activities in the dual fuel marine sector. Working in the marine environment poses not only technical but also operational challenges. Burckhardt Com-pression has many years of experience in this field as well as a very flexible and competent marine team.”

Beate Zientek-Strietz, managing director of Germany-headquartered SERO PumpSystems, commented: “With this cooperation we can focus on our core business, the construction of technologically outstanding pumps, and have found in Burckhardt Compression a strong partner for our service business.”

In January, SERO PumpSystems’ SHP side channel pump became the first pump of its kind to receive Lloyd’s Register acceptance and DNV GL type approval for maritime dual fuel propulsion systems.

The side channel pump technology is known primarily for its ability to handle clean liquids at low flow rates with high head pressure. The hydraulic is inherently self-priming, has high gas handling capability and requires low NPSH. SERO side channel pumps are ideal to pump light acids, alkaline liquids and solvents as well as specialty chemicals and petrochemical feed stocks. Other services include pumping refrigerants, liquefied gases, condensates, light hydrocarbons found in oil & gas production and a variety of volatile process fluids.
