Burckhardt Laby compressors for X-DF engine

The delivery of the Laby compressor will be the first time Burckhardt Compressor’s product has been used with an X-DF engine. The Laby compressors will be delivered to Hyundai Mipo Dockyard as part of a Wärtsilä Oil & Gas fuel gas supply system. The system will supply the LNG carrier’s 5-cylinder WinGD X52DF dual-fuel engine and dual-fuel auxiliaries with LNG boil-off gas as fuel for ship propulsion systems.

Volkmar Galke, Global Head of Sales for WinGD said: “With the application of piston compressors in combination with WinGD X-DF engines (operating with gas pressure below 13.0 bar) the portfolio of compressor types to be used in such applications now offers ship owners and ship yards a wider range of compressor types, screw compressor, centrifugal compressor and also piston compressors as main boil off gas compressors.”

The fuel gas supply system equipment is scheduled for delivery in 2020, and the vessel is expected to be delivered during the first half of 2021.
