Cavotec reports strong shore power orders

Alternative Maritime Power (AMP), Cavotec’s shore power system, connects ships to shore side’s electrical power. This means that the ship’s diesel generators can be switched off, reducing noise and harmful emissions.

Ottonel Popesco, Cavotec’s CEO, said: “The scope and diversity of these orders illustrate Cavotec’s established role as a key supplier of innovative shore power technologies in this expanding global market.”

Concerns over emissions in port areas and company’s desires to reduce their environmental impact has seen an increase in regulations and the application of technology like AMP.

The most recent order of Cavotec’s system is for 15 AMPs to be delivered to six new-build 13,500 TEU container vessels.

In the first two quarters of the year, Cavotec secured AMP orders from customers worldwide, including carriers, cruise ships, passenger ferries, a major naval application in the UK and a large container terminal in Canada.
