Damen's BalCon offers a 'plug and play' BWMS within just one twenty-foot container

The BalCon containerised system is prefabricated and tested onshore before installation. Developed in partnership with Trojan Marinex, and with a BioSea version in the pipeline, the concept is intended to fit all BWMS equipment within a single teu. It is offered for capacity requirements from 100m3/h to 750m3/h.

Gert Jan Oude Egberink, manager of ballast water treatment at Damen, said: “When a vessel comes to the yard for repair or survey, the system will be ready to go. It’s simply a case of ‘plug and play’ – connecting the treatment system and then business as usual, with the absolute minimum of downtime for the vessel.”

Damen LoFlo offers a system for vessels requiring treatment capacity of 30-60m3/h – smaller than most solutions on the market – to reduce footprint and energy usage. The system is fitted to a skid for easy and efficient installation on board the vessel. It can also be installed as a modular version.

Egberink added: “With these new products we are meeting market requirements for easy, reliable retrofitting within a very short timeframe, solving the need for ‘one time right’ installation.”
