Debut verifies Calnetix waste heat recovery
In a white paper detailing the installation (which took place in April), commissioning and initial operational feedback, Calnetix noted that the 125kW system consistently generated 110-115kW of electricity for the ship’s grid during the trial voyage. At full cooling water flow, the system generated the full rated 125kW.
“The commissioning tests and operational data reveal the Hydrocurrent installation on Arnold Maersk met or exceeded expectations,” said Vatche Artinian, CEO, Calnetix.
Calnetix is moving toward full commercialisation of the Hydrocurrent technology. As reported, the company announced an agreement with Tokyo Boeki for manufacturing the Hydrocurrent system earlier this year. It will be marketed by MHI-MME through its worldwide distribution channels.
The Hydrocurrent system was first introduced in 2014 and has passed class society testing by Lloyd’s Register and ClassNK.
