DESMI Ocean Guard wins multiple BWTS orders
The contract is for seven vessels each equipped with two RayClean 500 BWTS with an option to supply the systems for an additional two vessels.
Rasmus Folsø, CEO of DESMI Ocean Guard, said: “We are very pleased with this contract, which is the fruit of a long and pleasant collaboration with Maersk.”
“Analyses have shown us that the RayClean system will provide considerable operation cost savings,” he added.
Key to the Danish shipping giant’s decision was the RayClean system’s certification for use in all salinities and down to extremely low UV-Transmission levels.
UV-Transmission is a measure of how difficult the water is to treat. The lower the level, the more challenging it is to treat, according to the IMO and US Coast Guard discharge standards.
The RayClean system has completed all required testing for US Coast Guard Type Approval and is currently awaiting full type approval.
The vessels will be built at COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard in China and the BTWS will be delivered in 2016/2017.
