FINNLINES OPTS FOR WARTSILA HYBRID SYSTEM

The hybrid solution, which includes a 5000 kWh energy storage system supplied by Corvus Energy, will enable these ships to operate with zero emissions while in port, and to meet the Registro Italiano Navale (RINA) Green Plus class notation. They will also have Ice Class classification 1A Super.

The ships are designed for flexible Ro-Ro cargo. With a length of 238 metres and a beam of 34 metres, they will have a capacity of 5,800 lane-meters and more than 5,000 m2 of vehicle decks. In addition to Wärtsilä’s Hybrid Power Conversion system which includes Corvus ESS that enables zero-emission operations in port, they will be equipped with Wärtsilä’s energy efficient engines, exhaust gas scrubbers and an innovative air lubrication system to reduce hull resistance.

Wärtsilä’s equipment, which also includes in-line shaft generators, power take-off/take in converters, and transformers, is scheduled for delivery to the yard in the second half of 2020.
