Flynn compressor for Philippines cargo vessel
German shipping company, W Bockstiegel, made the urgent demand for the compressor for its vessel Nils B following the breakdown of the ship’s refrigeration compressor in Manila. The compressor reached the vessel more than 6,500 miles away, in under 48 hours, with the help of its express air freight company.
“The compressor was sent on two flights – the first of which was on June 5 to reach a connecting flight the following day. It was successfully delivered to the customer on June 6,” said Alex Flynn, managing director. “If required we would also have provided engineering services in Manila to install the compressor. However, on this occasion, the ship’s crew had the expertise to fit the compressor themselves.”
Flynn is an official supplier of some of the industry’s biggest refrigeration, air-conditioning and compressor manufacturers including Bitzer, Bock, Grasso, Gram, Copeland and Danfoss. The company says it’s ideally set up to deal with emergency equipment requests because of the thousands of products stocked in its 7,500ft warehouse.

The company has supplied refrigeration and air-conditioning systems to a range of vessels including Navy vessels, cruise liners, superyachts, tugs, commercial and nuclear material handling vessels.
Going forward, the company is looking to expand its overseas presence, especially in Europe, the Far East and Asia Pacific Rim. Flynn’s £2.6m-turnover firm has driven exports, with exports now accounting for more than 60% of total sales.
