Fresh water for river cruiser conversions
The units, each with a capacity of 62.5 m3/day, have been installed aboard the former river cruise ships Ravel and Debussy. These ships have been converted into offshore accommodation vessels for the Caspian Sea by De Hoop Lobith for Roborg, a partnership between Roelofs Floatels and Wagenborg. The two ships, were built 10 years ago by De Hoop Lobith, and were equipped in their original guise with Hatenboer-Water drinking water production units.
The company said that it had to be creative in order to realise these projects. There was insufficient time to build standard 60 m3/day systems. However, the company was able to complete five Demitec Sea Standard RO units, each with a capacity of 12.5 m3/day, within the tight delivery schedule for the first ship.
These units were installed in a fully sound insulated 40ft container. Nine weeks after the order was placed a fully operational system was commissioned on board. This was followed, as requested, four weeks later by the second shipset, also delivered as a containerised unit.
After this rush job, a further three sets of five Demitec Sea Standard RO systems followed. These were also installed in Roberg hotel ships, one of which was commissioned by De Hoop Lobith and two by Holland Shipyards. These additional systems were not built in containerised form as there was sufficient room for them to be accommodatedin the engine room.
