Gasum wins Finnish government LNG deal

The framework agreement includes an additional two year option.

“We have been supplying LNG to the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and the Finnish Border Guard during the previous agreement period,” commented Jacob Granqvist, vice president maritime, Gasum. “Maritime transport plays a leading role in changing course towards a cleaner tomorrow,” he added.

LNG meets the current and future requirements set by the International Maritime Organization and the EU. A switch to LNG will help eliminate sulphur oxide and particulate emissions and cut nitrogen dioxide emissions by 85% and carbon dioxide emissions by up to 21%. It is expected that LNG will play a major role in the future in the Baltic Sea region.

“The framework arrangement enables government organisations to source LNG with a high level of supply security and with consideration for responsibility aspects,” said Pasi Tainio, category manager, Hansel.

“LNG is a better shipping fuel than oil for climate and this framework arrangement enables clients to also procure a bio version of LNG,” he added.
