IMO Tier III Certification with Hug Engineering SCR system

The test was conducted under independent Lloyd’s Register class supervision and ensured that the generator sets of the new 57.70m yachts comply with IMO Tier III NOx emission limits.

Elizabeth Rahman, project manager, said: “We are very proud of achieving this milestone of our first IMO Tier III certification and appreciate the proficient co-operation with the Dutch leading superyacht builder, Amels.”

The main and auxiliary engines were certified as IMO Tier II NOx emission engines, as well as the generator sets being equipped with nauticlean active diesel particulate filters.

This means the system will enable vessels to meet the next stage of the United Nations IMO NOx emissions regulations which apply to those operating in North America and the United States Caribbean Sea emission control areas (ECAs).

Hug Engineering says further NOx emission reduction certification tests will be performed worldwide.
