Through this strategic and technological alliance, the two companies first aim to significantly change the comprehension of short range radar target detection and processing, offering very advanced – yet operator-friendly – products. The goal is to introduce radar systems for use on SOLAS vessels with a strong focus on piracy attack detection.

Navico is a leading manufacturer of marine electronics, known best in the recreational boating sector through its Simrad, B&G and Lowrance brands.

We reported on an early example of the potential use of a Simrad short-range radar as an anti-piracy aid in our October 2010 issue. Products will be brought to market under both the Simrad and Consilium brands.
