KM to supply tech for Keppel WITV
Scheduled for delivery by the end of 2023, the new NG-16000XL WITV is being built for US-based energy provider Dominion Energy and is the first to comply with the Jones Act.
Egil Haugsdal, president of Kongsberg Maritime, said the company was proud to bring the benefits of its expertise to all maritime sectors. “The bespoke solution we have devised for wind turbine installation vessels indicates how much thought and effort we devote to facilitating and encouraging sustainable marine operations,” he said.
KM will deliver an integrated solution combining motion control, propulsion and dynamic positioning functionalities. Its thrusters will secure optimised performance both for transit, manoeuvring and dynamic positioning, with power supplied by six Bergen diesel engines. Mooring and line handling will be provided by a KM deck machinery package.
Monitoring and control of the KM components will be managed by a K-Chief 700 marine automation system and the delivery also includes a large telecommunications package with an electrical system powered by KM’s Energy Solutions.
