Latest delivery lifts Gazocean LNG carrier fleet

The vessel will be engaged in LNG transportation under the ship management of Gazocean, a French ship management company specialising in LNG transportation, which is also jointly owned by NYK and Geogas LNG. The vessel will be the ninth LNG carrier to be managed by the ship management company. 

The 174,000cbm Elisa Aquila is under long-term charter contract with Edison SPA, a Milan-based energy company wholly owned by EDF.

The vessel, which was built at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries’ yard in South Korea, is powered by a dual-fuel X-DF engine. The newbuilding is also equipped with Air Liquide’s Turbo-Brayton reliquefaction solution. The solution reliquefies the boil-off gas (BOG) and keeps the cargo cool under all operating conditions. It allows a portion of the BOG to be used as fuel for the ship’s engines, with the excess able to be sold as part of the LNG cargo. The company notes that its patented skid-mounted Turbo-Brayton solution only requires water and electricity to operate.
