LGM Engineering wins FGSS contract for U-Ming dual-fuel bulkers
The order was placed in June. The scope of supply includes two sets of Type C single walled LNG fuel tanks with PUF insulation, the LNG bunkering stations, the high-pressure and low-pressure fuel gas supply system, Water/Glycol system ESD system and N2 generator system. The EPC delivery also includes system commissioning, the gas trial, and crew training. The delivery of the equipment to the yard is scheduled to begin in March 2022.
The systems will be installed on board four 190,000 dwt bulkers ordered by Taiwan based owners U-Ming. U-Ming noted that the four LNG-fuelled Capesize bulkers would be chartered to Anglo American, the mining company, upon delivery. U-Ming previously announced that the four dual-fuel Capesize newbuildings would be powered by MAN Energy Solutions’ high-pressure dual-fuel ME-GI engines. The vessels will fully comply with EEDI Phase III requirements for dry bulk vessels.
The contract represents the first order for LGM Engineering’s FGSS solution from the dry bulk segment, The Motorship understands. As LGM Engineering expects LNG-fuelled vessels to gradually gain a larger share of the market. it plans to develop and upgrade its solutions.
