LNG supply for TOTE ships announced
The fuelling facilities will be provided at the port of Jacksonville, ready for entry into service of the ships, scheduled for late 2015 and early 2016.
Pivotal LNG, WesPac and TOTE have signed a letter of intent with a view to working toward definitive agreements. Pivotal LNG and WesPac plan to work together to create a joint venture to develop the LNG plant in Jacksonville.
Peter Keller, EVP of TOTE and project leader for the LNG programme said: “We are pleased to be partnering with Pivotal LNG and WesPac in this innovative LNG development and look forward to continuing to develop LNG as an alternative transportation fuel.”
Pivotal LNG’s parent company, AGL Resources, operates liquefaction facilities in the US, primarily through its distribution utility operations that use the LNG facilities for peak-shaving services for customers when demand is highest. Pivotal LNG operates a merchant LNG facility which sells LNG wholesale to truck fleets and high horsepower engine operators.
WesPac is a private energy infrastructure company with several small LNG facilities under development in North America, focusing on applications such as power plants, rail and trucking.
