LNG transfer using jettyless system
The LNG was delivered from the Gasum-chartered carrier Coral Energy to one of Norway’s busiest ports, Heroya Industrial Park using remote onshore monitoring and minimal personal solely to connect the aerial hose.
“The ship to shore LNG transfer with the floating IQuay was an opportunity to further prove the capabilities of the system,” said ECONNECT Energy project manager, Jørgen Agerup.
“The cargo delivery of LNG and analysis verified the system process performance,” he added.
The IQuay is said to be the first of its kind in the world. It can be deployed in remote areas where installing marine jetties may be cost-prohibitive and damaging to the local environment. The IQuay has successfully connected to LNG carriers, chemical carriers, offshore supply vessels and tug boats, operating so far in three different locations. In addition to LNG, the technology can be used for ammonia, hydrogen, CO2 or any other fluid.
Other partners in the LNG operation included SINTEF, Air Liquide, Trelleborg, Anthony Veder, the Grenland Port Authority, the Norwegian Coastal Administration and Innovation Norway.
