MacGregor deck equipment orders
The firm has signed a contract for the design and delivery of key components and the fabrication of steel structures for the hatch covers on board six 14,000 teu container vessels. The vessels are currently under construction at Japan Marine United’s (JMU) Kure shipyard.
These 14,000 teu vessels are being built for an undisclosed Japanese owner. The delivery of the vessels is scheduled from 2016 through 2018. They will be deployed for the service between Far East and Europe.
“MacGregor has enjoyed a long and successful working relationship with JMU,” said Hiroshi Goto area marketing manager, Cargo Handling, MacGregor. “This order follows four ships contracted in 2014 for the same series.”
MacGregor has also signed contracts with Chinese shipyard Guangzhou Shunhai Shipyard Ltd to deliver anchor handling/towing winch packages for five 48m anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels, each with a 75 tonne bollard pull and one 40m AHTS vessel with a 70 tonne bollard pull.
The firm will supply a medium-pressure 150 tonne capacity anchor handling/towing winch, a tugger winch, capstan and hydraulic power unit for each of the 48m AHTS vessels, and a 100 tonne capacity anchor handling/towing winch, a tugger winch, capstan and hydraulic power unit for the 40m AHTS vessel.
These vessels are under construction for an undisclosed Middle East owner. Delivery of the first vessel is planned for December 2015; subsequent deliveries are planned at intervals up to the third quarter of 2016.
All will be employed in anchor handling and towing operations in Middle East waters.
