MacGregor equipment order for DSME newbuilds
The carriers, each with capacity to carry 172,600m2 of LNG and each bound for the Yamal LNG project in the Russian Arctic, will host electrically-driven Hatlapa deck machinery, windlasses and mooring winches – all optimised for operations in very low temperatures.
“MacGregor was awarded the contract because it can deliver equipment that complies with the demanding technical requirements of operating in extremely cold conditions,” said Alexander Nürnberg, vice president for auxiliary and machinery systems business at MacGregor. “As part of this project, we have developed new technology suitable for use in extreme ambient temperatures as low as minus -52°C.”
Delivery of the vessels is planned to start in 2017 and continue into 2018.
