MAN Cryo FGSS for LNG-battery duo
The systems comprise a 175m3 vacuum-insulated storage tank with auxiliary equipment including an LNG vaporiser, a pressure build-up unit and a bunker station.
The ferries, designed by Multi Maritime, will feature hybrid propulsion systems and fast shore charging. As reported, the 130m loa ferries (with capacity for 580 passengers and 180 cars) are part of an eventual series of five, with details of the remaining two – including where they will be built – to be confirmed.
Mikael Adler, managing director, MAN Cryo, said: “We are very happy to have been chosen as supplier for the fuel gas system for these vessels. We see a clear trend in the market with an increasing number of inquiries for fuel gas systems. This clearly points towards LNG’s positive growth as a choice of fuel.”
The vessels will each be powered by three nine-cylinder Bergen C26:33 engines. The supplier of the battery systems has yet to be disclosed.
