Navtex receiver for GMDSS compliance
The Smartfind GMDSS Navtex provides users with navigational warnings, meteorological information and urgent safety information. It features a 6in colour screen, with three parallel digital receivers simultaneously monitoring the international 518 KHz English language service, 490 KHz national language and the 4209.5 KHz long range Navtex services. McMurdo says that its enhanced signal monitoring (ESM) feature will reduce message text errors.
The LCD screen is designed to be legible in all light conditions, with an adjustable backlight and three user selectable font sizes. Different message categories are coloured keyed according to the Navtex message type. The messages can be reviewed in a short message listing and then opened in full to read the complete text. Automatic sorting allows messages to be arranged by reception channel, station ID, message category type or age. A quick index message listing page is provided for each channel so that users can locate new or unread messages and messages that have been locked to prevent automatic deletion.
Navtex data can be sent to integrated systems or ECDIS screens, or to a hard-copy printer. Antenna options include a heavy duty two band active antenna, optimised for Navtex channels.
