New advanced scalable automation from SAM
Nacos features common components and operating networks to provide what the company claims are unrivalled modes of integrated functionality for vessels of all types and sizes. Systems have already been commissioned for product tankers, offshore wind vessels, cruise ships and megayachts under construction in Asia and Europe.
The systems can be linked to shore networks via another new launch, SAM ConnectNet, a high-speed ship-to-shore assembly that merges vessel communication systems into complete enterprise-wide IT networks.
SAM Electronics Netherlands in Rotterdam is carrying out an order from Biglift in Amsterdam to retrofit MOS 2200 alarm and monitoring system to four heavy lift vessels. Three have been completed, with the fourth due in 2011.
The BV-approved system features about 300 alarm channels with two independent operator stations. Panels are mounted on the bridge, the engine control room (including a deadman alarm) and five other locations in the accommodation and public rooms. The operator stations are connected via a separate redundant system network.
