New marine approved intelligent fire safety products

The products form part of Hochiki Europe’s enhanced systems protocol (ESP) portfolio and complement the company’s existing range of conventional marine detectors. The products are said to be suitable for a variety of applications on ships and rigs. ESP is described as a total communications solution for intelligent fire detection and fully integrated systems. It is intended to offer flexibility and expansion capability which can extend the usable address range from 127 to 254, which should minimise the cost of the control panel and reduce the amount of cabling.

The ESP technology uses an interrupt system to guarantee that an alert from any device back to the system indicating a fire, will take less than 1.5s, irrespective of the device address or location. All the products have Lloyd’s Register approval, and have also been tested and approved to the MED standard by GL.
