Overseas tankers select De Nora BWMS

The dual Balpure BP850-B systems, sized to treat 1,500 m3/h of ballast water, will be retrofitted on 50,000dwt product and chemical tankers Overseas Milos and Overseas Athens. OSG owns and operates a combined fleet of 78 vessels globally, including in the US.

The Balpure system, which treats ballast water through a combination of side stream electrochlorination and filtration, is driven by patented cathode technology said to require less power than other systems. It is IMO type approved and De Nora has applied for US Coast Guard type approval.
