Project works to optimise battery pack ROI
Solstad Offshore is now able to monitor in real time the optimal usage of the Corvus Energy battery packs onboard their vessels, thanks to a collaborative effort with Corvus Energy, VPS, Vard and Raa Labs.
“We wanted to ensure that the investments made in state-of-the-art batteries from Corvus Energy, were used in the right way and as much as possible. This would allow us to minimise emissions today, but also to plan for future investments, making sure that we have the right size battery packs installed onboard our vessels,” said Svein Erik Isaksen, sustainability advisor, Solstad Offshore.
”The collaboration between Corvus, VPS and Raa Labs has been an enabler for us, giving us an operational insight we have not had before. We already see that we can use this to make our operations even more energy efficient than it is today.”
Real-time data
Raa Labs provides data from both battery packs and core operational systems onboard Solstad vessels, sharing all the data in real time both onboard as well as in the cloud.
“We want to deliver the best possible solutions to our customers. We also want to make sure our batteries are used as much as possible to help reduce our customers´ emissions,” said Henning Dahl, chief business development officer at Corvus Energy.
Data is made available through the application Maress from VPS, where all stakeholders can see the data and optimise the usage of the battery packs.
The Maress application for data-driven emissions reduction has become a standard for operating offshore vessels.
By integrating the battery data delivered by the RaaEDGE onboard IOT platform into Maress, offshore operators can gain an overview of their operations that has not been previously available.
