Qatargas LNG STS transfer

Importer
The STS transfer between the two Q-Flex ships took six days to complete

The operation was carried out following an incident involving one of the vessels while transiting the Singapore straits. No injuries were reported to personnel or impact on the environment, but the incident did result in minor damage to the vessel.

In preparation for the STS operation, Qatargas carried out rigorous planning, including formal risk assessment, to ensure the safety of the people involved and the protection of the environment.

The transfer of 211,000m³ was conducted at anchor in open waters in Singapore using specialised equipment and a contractor with LNG STS expertise. The operation took six days to complete.

Qatargas was set up in 1984 and is now one of the largest LNG producers in the world, with an annual LNG production capacity of 42 million tonnes per annum.
