Roxtec launches lightweight non-weld seal

The SPM seal, made from ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber with stainless steel fittings, can be installed from one side of bulkheads or decks and features indicators to show when full compression is achieved.

Rosteck’s patented technology is said to ensure a tight seal even on irregular or uneven surfaces. It is available in 16 sizes, each with a tolerance of 4mm (inward and outward). The seal is certified for A-class fire rated divisions, to 1 bar of water pressure or 0.67 bar of gas pressure.

The company reports that it is in type approval processes with classification societies including DNV GL, Lloyd’s Register, the American Bureau of Shipping, RINA and Class NK. It has also performed tests at external laboratories according to IMO’s fire test procedure (FTP) standards.
