Flir Systems’ new AX8 temperature sensor

Intended for monitoring of mechanical and electrical equipment across a range of industries, the AX8 is said to be well suited to engine room applications, being simple to install in limited space. Enabled by Flir’s Lepton thermal imaging technology, the AX8 provides early detection of temperature-related issues, guarding against unplanned outages, service interruptions, and equipment failure, The AX8 is suitable for continuous condition monitoring and fire prevention.

The AX8 thermal imager has 4,800 active temperature points per image, provides streaming temperature data over Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP interfaces. It has a built-in web interface, and includes a suite of analysis and alarm functions. The MSX video is outputted in standard MJPEG, MPEG, and H.264 formats.

“With the AX8, Flir is continuing to find new and innovative uses for its increasingly-more affordable thermal imaging technologies,” said Andy Teich, Flir’s president and CEO. “The AX8 is another example of how our new Lepton core’s revolutionary price, size, and low power consumption is creating a new product category and corresponding applications.”
