Thermal imaging integrates with navigation displays
Although Raymarine is primarily involved in the recreational and workboat market sectors, the link between the two companies is expected to cross over into navigational products for larger ships.
The first fruits of this collaboration were on show at the recent Southampton Boat Show. Raymarine’s T-Series thermal night-vision cameras are the said to be the first thermal imaging systems to be fully integrated with a multifunction navigation display. The Raymarine E Series widescreen display can be used to directly control a T-Series thermal night-vision camera using the HybridTouch interface to pan, tilt and zoom the camera. The cameras can also be operated through the keyboard and track pad of the Raymarine G Series navigation system.
An optional remote joystick control unit can be used as an addition to larger systems or for direct camera control when used with other Raymarine displays that have a composite video input. The T-Series thermal night-vision cameras have compact, rugged, marine-grade enclosures, and provide 360° pan and 90° tilt capability for all-round coverage.
T-Series cameras can be mounted conventionally in base-down camera-upright mode or suspended in a base-up camera-down configuration, dependent on vessel layout.
Two T Series single thermal imaging sensors are available; the T300 offers ×2 zoom, 320×240 QVGA video resolution; while the high-resolution T350 has both ×2 and ×4 zoom, and 640×480 VGA video resolution.
The composite T series units combine a thermal imaging sensor with a high-performance low-light video camera – these comprise the x2 zoom QVGA T400 and the dual-zoom VGA T450.
