Two more dual-fuel chemical tankers will feature LGM Engineering FGSS

The order consolidates the company’s position as a supplier of LNG fuel gas systems for the chemical tanker market. The dual-fuel machinery will be compatible with liquid biogas, LBG, as fuel. The Motorship notes that LBG supply is increasing in the Baltic Sea region.

The order relates to two 15,000m³ chemical/product tanker newbuilds, under construction by Yangzijang Shipbuilding Group in China. For each ship, LGM Engineering will provide Type C deck mounted LNG fuel tanks, LNG bunkering modules, a cargo handling system and an integrated LNG fuel supply system. The company says the contract includes provisions for crew training, as well as support during commissioning.

The Ice Class 1A 13,000dwt ships are scheduled for delivery in 2022, and are said to feature an advanced design that offers a very special hull form that reduces resistance and minimises bunker consumption. The vessel was designed by Odely in Shanghai, in close cooperation with Tarbit. The vessels are equipped with Energopac rudder design as well as a bow thruster.

As part of the contract, LGM Engineering will provide support to the shipyard throughout the building process.
