Type approval for Danelec VDRs

The USCG has added approval for the range’s S-VDR, having approved the VDR unit previously, while the CCS has approved the DM100 VDR.

Hans Ottosen, CEO of Danelec Marine said: “Danelec Marine’s DM100 VDRs and S-VDRs have full unconditional type approval to meet all of the IMO and IEC technical requirements.

“This includes the provision calling for ethernet connections to record video data from the ship’s ECDIS and radars via the IEC 61162-450 standard. Some other VDR products do not meet this requirement and therefore have only provisional approvals.”

The DM100 products have also been approved by other international maritime certification bodies, including BSH, Russian Maritime Register and Singapore MPA.

The Danelec DM100 VDR and S-VDR are based on similar architecture and share common parts and spares for easy service and repairs. They incorporate Danelec’s SoftWare Advanced Protection (SWAP) technology for fast and easy shipboard service.

Both products also support Danelec’s exclusive VDRConnect remote access option, which provides selective download of VDR datasets at shore offices.
