Valmet upgrades automation on RCCL ‘Mariner of the Seas’
The current Damatic XDi system, which has provided automation for machinery and air conditioning on the vessel since installation in 2003, will be upgraded to company’s latest DNA platform. The new delivery will include a new ethernet-based communication network, operator stations including a DNA Operate Trend and Event Archive (DNA Operate TEA) station with data analysing and reporting applications, and industrial process controllers.
Per Syvertsen, senior technical manager, marine automation applications, Valmet, said: “With this upgrade of the Damatic XDi system the control room and process controller parts of the system will be transformed to the latest Valmet DNA technology.”
Valmet’s DNA Operate TEA is described as a ‘functional extension to the control room’, giving users access to trend and event history. It also features replay capability and alarm and event analysing tools.
The company also noted that the input and output side of the system will remain unchanged during the upgrade as this technology is will still be supported for several years.
