Wärtsilä BWMS for Maersk Tanker newbuilds

Wärtsilä will supply each of the three vessels with one 1,500m3/h system, with a custom-made ATEX and hazardous area design based on the vessel requirements. The order was signed in the second quarter of 2016 and he equipment is scheduled to be delivered to the yard from December.

Wärtsilä noted that it anticipated receiving US Coast Guard (USCG) type approval for the system by the first quarter of 2017. The Aquarius system, featuring a two-stage process of filtration and electro-chlorination, has already secured IMO type approval and alternative management system certification from USCG.
