Damen’s InvaSave offers alternative to BWMS

Since the Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention entered into force on 8 September 2017, newbuild vessels have had to meet the D2 standard of the Ballast Water Management Convention but operators of inland coastal tanker ‘Elena H.’ used InvaSave for ballasting the vessel in the Netherlands before her maiden voyage on her own keel to Argentina, where she will remain permanently in local waters.

“The Ballast Water Management Convention is being recognised and accepted across much of the world and ship owners and yards alike see the many possibilities the InvaSave offers them,” said Philip Rabe from Damen Green Solutions. “The InvaSave proves itself as a versatile tool to treat ballast water of vessels without the need to install a BWMS.”

InvaSave is the result of a Damen project aimed at both treatment and supply of IMO certified D2 water from and to vessels.

Damen Green Solutions is working with Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC) to offer the ballast water reception/bunkering service to fill/empty the ballast tanks of (newbuild) vessels in an IMO certified manner.
