Bawat partners with Damen Green Solutions

Bawat says its BWMS is simple, cost-effective, and built on a zero environmental impact basis using standard marine components. There are no filters, chemicals or UV. Rather, it uses pasteurisation to treat ballast water in a one-pass process.

Rutger van Dam, Sales Manager at Damen Green Solutions, says: “By using the surplus heat recourses from the vessel and turn it into a neutralizer for living organisms, basically eco-friendly pasteurization which is the greenest way to treat ballast water available in the market. With at least 35,000 vessels still needing to comply with international ballast water treatment legislation in the near future, we will now be able to offer shipowners Bawats green BWMS solution that heat treat ballast water using heat primarily from the main engine. All in all, a real green solution that uses no chemicals nor UV lamps.”

Currently Damen and Bawat have identified their first common project.

In February 2022, Bawat, Green Swan Partners, and Monstrant Viam announced the formation of a Joint Venture, Freedom Ballast based in Pittsburgh, PA. Freedom will deploy port-side ballast water reception services in the US.
