Built on the proven PureBallast 3 technology, the system promises enhanced performance, increased energy efficiency and simplified installation.

Just a few months after its launch, PureBallast 3 Ultra has secured orders from leading shipyards across China, South Korea, Japan, and other key regions, with deliveries slated to begin in Q3 2025.

“This is a demanding time for shipyards, with full order books and an increasing need to adopt new technologies to meet evolving environmental regulations,” said Peter Nordström, R&D manager, Alfa Laval PureBallast. “We have listened to our shipyard customers and developed a PureBallast system that simplifies installation while meeting their high standards.”

The PureBallast 3 Ultra is designed for optimal integration, especially in tanker vessels where space is limited. Its compact design and reduced footprint, coupled with the integrated cleaning-in-place and UV reactor module, streamline installation and reduce costs, says the company.

Additionally, the system ensures top-tier performance across all water conditions while keeping power consumption low. Connectivity features also allow for remote monitoring, offering ongoing service optimization.

“Early feedback from shipowners on PureBallast 3 Ultra has been highly positive,” said Tobias Döscher, head of global sales, business development and marketing, Alfa Laval PureBallast.

“We are confident that our new system will make BWMS compliance easier to achieve on board.”
