ASRY wins ballast installation work for AMPTC

The yard has already installed one system on very large crude carrier Sea Jewel and AMPTC has agreed to two further installations. Negotiations regarding the remainder of the Egyptian operator’s fleet of crude, LPG and product carriers are continuing.

Ahmed Demerdash, technical manager, AMPTC, said: “ASRY was our first choice for these installations as they have good experience with the engineering requirements and a good network of partnerships that we can rely on. They have taken good care of our fleet for many years.”

ASRY holds ‘preferred yard’ status from Hyundai Heavy Industries for installations of its BWMS and scrubbers. Under that agreement, Hyundai Global Service is committed to providing the required training to optimise the installation process. The service division also becomes a preferred supplier to ASRY for Hyundai Heavy Industries equipment, including two-stroke and four-stroke engines and spare parts.
