The Danish manufacturer’s CompactClean BWMS also has approval for installation in hazardous areas.

Minimum hold time is the shortest allowable time that ballast water must be kept in the ballast tanks between the ballast uptake and discharge operations. The reduction of the minimum required hold time to just two hours in all salinities and water temperatures sets a new standard for non-chemical based BWMS under the US rules.

The amended USCG type approval certificate now covers all the ATEX and IECEX certified versions of CompactClean BWMS, enabling DESMI to install these in hazardous areas on board oil, gas and chemical tankers flying both US and non-US flags.

DESMI Ocean Guard is wholly owned by DESMI and its head office is located in Nørresundby, Denmark. DESMI has more than 180 years of history and the DESMI Group portfolio includes pumps, oil spill response solutions, pumping solutions for defence applications, energy saving systems, automation, contracting activities as well as BWMS.
