REVISED G8 APPROVAL FOR BIO-SEA BWTS

The certification of compliance with the IMO’s Resolution MEPC.300(72) for the Approval of Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS Code) means that the BIO-SEA system is compliant with the IMO Resolution (the Revised G8).

All vessels installing a BWMS after 28 October 2020 need to comply with the international BWMS Code.

The System Design Limitations (SDL) of the system were confirmed during the compliance testing. BIO-SEA requires zero holding time in freshwater, brackish water and seawater, while the system’s performance is unaffected by variations in water temperature.

Xavier Deval, Business Director, BIO-SEA, noted the system would “easily pass system commission tests” across all global territories and applications and part of the new ballast water rules set to enter into force.

From October 2021, tests will be required to verify installed systems are compliant with the D2 standard during the commissioning process.

Available as either a skid-mounted system or a modular package to aid retrofit, the BIO-SEA range of ballast water treatment systems have been designed for flow rates between 10m3/h and 2,000m3/h.
