Torm fleet agreement for Alfa Laval BWMS

Torm will retrofit 36 systems within its existing fleet as well as fitting the units on 11 newbuilds. The vessels will be equipped with PureBallast 3 Ex systems with a flow-rate capacity of 2,000m3/h. The deliveries will include connectivity units to provide remote access to operational performance data from the installed systems

“Based on a careful evaluation of the solutions on the market and our experience with PureBallast 3 Ex, we are confident that Alfa Laval is the right choice for our tankers,” said Jesper Jensen, head of technical division, Torm. “The system’s high performance, in combination with Alfa Laval’s global presence and service offering, will mean compliance security for our vessels.”

Torm has worked with PureBallast 3 Ex since 2017 and retrofitted its first system in 2018. It recently ordered the systems for newbuild projects in China and will now retrofit them across their product tanker fleet.

Meanwhile, Alfa Laval has signed a fleet agreement for 44 retrofits with Japanese ship owner NYK. The new contracts mean that Alfa Laval has now signed ten fleet agreement this year.

“It is of course encouraging that a number of customers, including NYK and Torm, have signed fleet agreements,” said Peter Leifland, president of the marine division, Alfa Laval. “The fact that one of the agreements includes our new Alfa Laval PureBallast connectivity unit confirms the high interest in solutions that provides performance data.”

The individual orders from NYK and Torm will be booked between 2019 and 2024, with most to be delivered before 2022.
